A Taste from Dragonfly

The bustling open kitchen offers a prime view of cooks preparing dinner while a gleaming bar made of green glass and stainless steel glows from across the room. This welcome blend of upmarket style combined with warm Balinese hospitality is sure to put Dragonfly firmly on the shortlist of places to dine in Ubud.
The most compelling reason to try it is the cuisine. Inspired by the abundant choice of high quality ingredients available in Bali, the eclectic menu features an international array of dishes with a focus on organic ingredients. Selections change frequently according to what's fresh and available, but popular choices include the Ubud on the Beach Grill, a selection of snapper, prawns and local seafood fired up on the outdoor barbeque and Nasi Campur which goes beyond the ordinary with its addition of traditional Balinese yellow rice infused with turmeric and spices. Those with a craving for western flavors should try the Rosemary Chicken, marinated in herbs and served with pureed potatoes. Mexican food was recently added, in keeping with the owners' California roots, and has become an unexpected hit. A food-friendly and well-priced wine list features European, Chilean, Australian and local wines, many by the glass. Cocktails range from classic dry martinis to margaritas and mojitos, all made from fresh juices and top shelf ingredients.
At Dragonfly, there's always something on the calendar to keep the vibe lively. Sundays and Fridays feature a salsa band that gets the crowd on the dance floor, an acoustic band plays familiar favorites on Thursdays, tango classes and performances of traditional Balinese gamelan and dance fill the week with entertainment.
For an upscale but unpretentious dining experience, whether you're "living in Ubud" for the rest of your life or just for the rest of the evening, Dragonfly is sure to please.
